DSL technology uses existing telephone lines for multimedia and high-speed data communications. It is able transfer data at very high speeds over a relatively short distance.

Because DSL is "always on"  there is no need to dial-up service.  There are two main types of DSL:

  1. ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line)
  2. SDSL (Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line)
